Abbots Bromley airfield at Yeatsall Farm in Staffordshire
Visited in August and October 2023 and August 2024 Abbots Bromley airfield in Staffordshire is one of the gems of general aviation in England. There is smooth grass, quiet lanes and several hostelries within easy walking distance: For refreshment there are the High Ash Farm Shop with its tea room called Cobwebs, the Bagot Arms (www.bagotarms.com), the Crown ([email protected]) and the Antlers coffee house and restaurant next door to the Crown, all less than a mile away. The Coach and Horses (www.thecoachandhorsesabbotsbromley.com) is a quarter of a mile on from The Crown.
At the time of writing, all the pubs are closed for lunch on Mondays and Cobwebs is closed on Tuesdays, but the Antlers is open all week so you should have a choice on any day.
The runway may not be easy to spot when the surrounding crop is growing but watch the video for a tip to locate it easily!
There is no landing fee at the airfield so you are invited to make a donation to the Air Ambulance (the box is in the hut marked with a 'C').
