Dieppe airfield has 820 metres of tarmac runway and 650 metres of grass runway, secure parking and friendly folk. Both the tarmac runway and the taxiways were immaculate at our visit.
There is no passport control so it is necessary to travel via one of the ports of entry; Le Touquet, Le Havre and Deauville being the closest.
The airfield is a short taxi ride away from the port of Dieppe, which is well worth a visit for a short break.
We stayed in an Airbnb apartment in a pedestrianised street adjacent to the marina only 300 yards from the beach front and with numerous restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity.
The Chateau was founded in 1188, not in the 10th century mentioned in the video, destroyed in 1195 and rebuilt in the 14th century. It is now home to the Dieppe museum and is open to the public.
